Aurora reworks the launcher, the lock screen, the files app, the music player and the whole of System UI — and puts the settings for it in Aurora Hub, one searchable surface inside Settings. Here is what all of it does.

Aurora Home

The launcher, rebuilt around search

  • Universal search The Pixel search bar, in full. One field finds apps, files, settings, contacts, Quick Settings tiles, Play Store listings, tips and the web — instead of only the apps already on your device.
  • Search bar, where you want it Put the search bar at the top or the bottom of the app drawer, and use the Google hotseat search bar on the home screen.
  • Liquid Glass home screen A themeable pop-up menu and themeable app icons, following the same glass treatment as the rest of the system.
  • Icon size, your call Adjust icon size independently on the home screen and in the app drawer.
  • Per-app custom icons Running an icon pack and it missed one? Set the icon for an individual app yourself.
  • Blur, tuned Adjustable blur for the app drawer, and a separate slider for recents.
  • Recents that tell you something Memory usage shown in the recents view, with optional action buttons.
  • At a Glance, customised Choose what Smartspace surfaces — weather, sports, stocks and more.
  • Small things that add up Turn off the wallpaper scrolling effect, and uninstall a non-system app straight from its pop-up menu.

Wallpaper & style

The full Pixel picker, plus Aurora's own clocks

  • The Pixel wallpaper experience, intact AI Wallpapers, Emoji Workshop, Live Effects, the launcher wallpaper carousel and Pixel wallpaper package support — all present, not approximated.
  • Depth effect Your wallpaper's subject sits in front of the clock, with a spatial 3D effect that responds as you move the device.
  • Custom clock styles Aurora's own clock styles alongside the Pixel System UI plugin clocks, with custom colours, an adjustable size slider, height control, an AOD transition, and a Liquid Glass clock theme. Default clock fonts are customisable too.
  • Any app as a lock screen shortcut The two lock screen affordances can launch anything you have installed, not just the short stock list — with a Liquid Glass affordance theme and a glass fingerprint icon background.
  • Icon packs Custom icon pack support throughout.
  • Live previews Every customisation option previews live, so you see the result before you commit to it.

Lockscreen

The Now Bar, lyrics, edge light & always-on display

  • Now Bar A live card on the lock screen for whatever is happening: music, active downloads, live sports scores, charging, the flashlight and more. Liquid Glass themed.
  • Lyrics Follow along with the song on the lock screen, in time with the track.
  • Edge Light Lighting effects around the screen edges when a notification arrives.
  • Media art Album artwork on the lock screen while music is playing.
  • Pulse visualiser An audio visualiser on the lock screen and ambient display.
  • Always-On Display Scheduled AOD with control over when it shows and how it behaves once the screen goes off.
  • Power off verify Require authentication before the device can be powered off, so it can't simply be switched off and taken out of reach.

UI features

Quick Settings, status bar, Settings itself & sound

  • Resize any tile, in either direction Quick Settings tiles resize to any width and any height — not just the two widths stock allows. Each tile keeps its own height, and a tall tile stays tall in the collapsed shade instead of being squashed back.
  • Tabbed live layout editor A tile editor with its own layout tab that rearranges the panel you are actually looking at, so what you build is what you get.
  • Swipe through tiles Reach every tile from the first pull down by swiping sideways, instead of only the ones that fit.
  • Panel style and blur A Liquid Glass panel style over the blurred backdrop, or the default filled tiles on a solid panel — with control over how much the screen behind is blurred.
  • Status bar Show or hide individual icons, and set the status bar's height and its left and right padding — useful for working around a cutout.
  • Network icons, your way A Wi-Fi standard indicator, a data-disabled icon, and a toggle to show 4G instead of LTE.
  • Shade header shortcuts The date, clock and battery in the shade header are clickable, each going somewhere useful.
  • Settings homepage styles Four looks for the Settings homepage: the stock layout, Aurora, Liquid Glass, and icons aligned on the right — plus a switch to float the search bar at the bottom of the screen instead of the header.
  • Volume slider A Liquid Glass volume dialog with its own blur intensity control.
  • Sound Per-app volume levels, and multi audio focus so more than one app can play at once.
  • Gestures Shake gestures with a sensitivity threshold, plus a three-finger swipe and a three-finger long press with separate actions.
  • 16 actions to bind them to App switch, search, voice search, launch camera, sleep, last app, close app, play/pause, flashlight, screenshot, volume panel, clear notifications, notifications panel, expand QS, ringer modes — or nothing at all.
  • Disable button screenshot Turn off the power + volume-down combo when it keeps firing by accident.
  • Boot animation Import any custom boot animation and see a genuine live preview of it before it takes effect.
  • Custom live fonts Pick a system font from Display size and text and it applies live. Aurora overrides the variable-* families that normally ignore font overlays, relaunches activities so nothing is left half-styled, and keeps a name for the stock font so Default genuinely puts it back.
  • USB prompt Plugging in a cable raises a bottom sheet for choosing the USB mode, instead of burying it in a notification.
  • Privacy indicator The camera and microphone dot tinted with your accent colour, keeping the stock icon shapes.
  • Media resume, tidied Resume controls expire faster and are dropped on reboot, so the shade isn't full of things you played days ago.

Apps

Files, Music, Quick Share & the updater

Files

The Pixel recent-files carousel and the Pixel navigation bar with Quick Share and the document scanner. Starred and Safe folders, a real trash can, and backup to Google Drive. It can also create a new blank file — the thing that makes dropping a .nomedia into a folder possible without another app.

Music

Fills in what your library is missing: album art and lyrics fetched for your music files, with the lyrics feeding straight through to the lock screen.

Quick Share

Send files to Apple devices over AirDrop — from an Android phone, without an intermediary app or a cable.

Updater

Aurora's updater, rebuilt in Material 3 Expressive to match the rest of the system rather than looking like a leftover.

Essentials & spoofing

Play Integrity, attestation & notifications

  • Play Integrity Fix Spoof as a random or a specific device, fetch the latest or canary device properties on demand, or fall back to a built-in preset.
  • TrickyStore Import a keybox for key attestation, then apply it to every app or to apps you pick — including importing an app list you built elsewhere. Aurora checks an imported keybox against Google's revocation list and tells you if it is revoked, rather than leaving you to guess why attestation fails.
  • App-specific spoofing Present different device properties to individual apps, with built-in profiles for the ROG Phone 8 Pro, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, OnePlus 9 Pro, Black Shark 4 and Lenovo Y700 — plus custom key/value presets you can save and reuse. Handy for unlocking the higher frame rates and graphics tiers some games gate behind a device check.
  • Google Photos Unlimited original-quality backup.
  • Essential notifications Keep the apps that matter grouped where you will actually see them.
  • GameSpace A gaming mode that gets out of your way while you play.
  • Ignore secure windows Take screenshots and screen recordings in apps that block them.
